My 2023 Prospa Local Business Hero nomination
I would like to nominate Rotorua Whakaora, Gina and Elmer Peiffer. They work tirelessly 7 days a week. Sourcing food to help the Rotorua Region. They drive as far as Hawkes Bay to rescue food for our food distribution in Rotorua. Now that cyclone gabriel has really hit the hawkes bay, they are now returning the love back to the hawkes bay by calling out to our Rotorua community and sending essential food and items to the hawkes bay. They were able to source help from waiariki women's refuge Rotorua and Aero Rotorua Club to help organize and fly much need goods to the hawkes bay. This couple does not get much of a break as they work everyday except for Christmas day. The love these two humans have for Rotorua should be commended . They don't do this for praise or monetary gains. They do this because there is a need and from what th hey would say - because we can. They get little to no funding but when she starts putting calls out the community starts rallying. If you would like to check them out, check out their facebook page Rotorua Whakaora

Kia ora neighbours. We know your tomato plants are still growing, but we're looking ahead to the harvest already! If you've got a family recipe for tomatoes, we'd love to see it and maybe publish it in our magazine to share with our readers. Send your recipe to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz, and if we use it in the mag, you will receive a free copy of our February 2025 issue.
